Qld: Nurses' union campaigns against Howard IR laws
The Queensland Nurses Union has launched an advertising campaign attacking the HOWARD
government's industrial laws.
Union secretary GAY HAWKSWORTH says the 500 thousand dollar TV campaign .. which runs
for four weeks .. will outline the negative impact of Work Choices.
Nurses' unions in New South Wales .. South Australia .. Victoria .. Tasmania .. the
ACT and Northern Territory are running similar campaigns.
The first ads will air this Sunday in regional and metropolitan areas.
Most state nurses are covered by state awards negotiated by unions .. but most private
hospital and aged care nurses come under the federal system.
Ms HAWKSWORTH says the federal government's now seeking advice on bringing public hospital
nurses under the national system.
